Musical Theatre of the 21st century breaks the boundaries of traditional musical theatre. A non-stop amalgamation of singing, dancing, and story-telling, today’s musical theatre demands of its performers like never before. In Crossing the Chorus Line participants will receive practical and performative training in the dynamic world of today’s musical theatre, providing participants an energetic, senior level class that focuses on vocal and acting technique, as well as movement styling for contemporary musical theatre. In the fall 2019 semester, students will explore Jason Robert Brown’s musical, 13 – the unapologetic coming of age musical that shows us the real experiences of the tween years. Using 13 as a training vehicle, participants will rehearse ensemble numbers as well as solo, duet and small group vocal selections.
