Musical Theatre of the 21stcentury breaks the boundaries of traditional musical theatre. A non-stop amalgamation of singing, dancing, and story-telling, today’s musical theatre demands of its performers like never before. In Crossing the Chorus Line participants will receive practical and performative training in the dynamic world of today’s musical theatre, providing participants an energetic, senior-level class that focuses on vocal and acting technique, as well as movement styling for contemporary musical theatre. This semester Crossing the ChorusLine will concentrate on material composed by the incomparable Alan Menken, whose breadth of work includes Sister Act, Little Shop of Horrors, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Newsies, and Aladdin. Using these shows as a training vehicle, participants will rehearse ensemble numbers as well as solo, duet and small group vocal selections. (Material subject to change based on class experience, size, and ability.)
