Meet the Faculty
Dori Bryan Ployer, MMAS Artistic Director and Director of Education, is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory, Cambridge College, and Emerson College and is currently pursuing her doctorate in education through Lesley University. Dori has directed and choreographed throughout Southeastern Massachusetts including Bay Colony Productions, The Buckley Performing Arts Center, and Dean College. Some of Dori’s credits include: Spring AwakeningGodspellChicagoRent, Hairspray, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Producers. Dori is an adjudicator for the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild (METG) and a respondent for The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Most recently Dori was invited to become a board member on the Holbrook Cultural Council. Dori has been nationally recognized for her work as an educator, director, and choreographer.

Bobby Zupkofska is thrilled to be a part of the resident faculty at The MMAS Academy. A graduate of Suffolk University’s Theatre Program (Class of 2015), Bobby spent his undergraduate career learning about every element of theatre until he found his love for teaching. At The MMAS Academy, Bobby has directed many ambitious plays and musicals with teen actors including: Heathers, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Into the Woods, The Laramie Project, Anything Goes!, The Drowsy Chaperone, and The Election. In addition to teaching classes and workshops, Bobby also teaches private lessons where he specializes in both vocal and acting techniques as well as audition training. Additionally, Bobby also teaches with Drama Kids International and directs for Un-Common Theatre Company.

Vincent Ratsavong is a Director/Choreographer pursuing a Masters in Theatre Education and Community at Emerson College. He studied Ballet Performance at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and graduated from Dean College in Franklin, MA with a B.A. in Theatre. Vincent has worked and performed with: Pennsylvania Ballet; The Maine State Ballet; Everett Dance Theatre; Portland Ballet; Doug Varone and Dancers; Androscoggin Dance Company;  among others. He is a two time Irene Ryan Nominee and 2015 Semi-Finalist for The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region 1. He won first place at The 2015 NATS Boston Song Festival. He was awarded as a Creative Genius in the 40 Young Professionals Under 40 in The Lewiston/Auburn Chamber of Commerce and Uplift Magazine Competition. He was Executive Producer for the Miss Maine America Organization and former Artistic Director for Community Little Theatre in Auburn, ME.

Alex Sweeney holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Dean College. While at Dean, Alex played lead roles in several mainstage productions including Godspell, Spring Awakening, Noises Off, The Odd Couple and Cabaret. Recent performance credits include Mayzie in Seussical and Babette in Beauty and the Beast for The Family Performing Arts Center in Bridgewater MA. In 2016, Alex served as the Assistant Director and Props Master on The Pillowman produced by the Abraham Society in Boston MA. Alex received early theatre training at The Capachione School of Performing Arts having studied under Adam Joy, TaraMcSweeney, Eli Bigelow, and Teresa Capachione. With the Capachione School, Alex earned national recognition for outstanding achievement in musical theatre performance and voice. Alex has also danced with Dance2Save Company in Taunton MA.

Chelsea Cavagnaro received her Bachelor of Arts from Dean College where her studies included acting, playwriting, stage management, and musical theater. Before college, Chelsea spent nine years at the Capachione School of Performing Arts taking classes, performing in shows, and teaching musical theater classes to pre-school and grade school age children. Chelsea is looking forward to meeting her students and having another fantastic year learning and growing together!

Marissa Stanley is a dance educator who specializes in creating positive, self-affirming environments for children and adults. Marissa has trained students with both recreational and professional goals and is wholly committed to bringing dance education to all bodies and abilities. Marissa began dancing as a child and rediscovered her love for dance shortly before attending Bridgewater State University (BSU) where she majored in Dance Education. While at BSU, Marissa served as an assistant choreographer to Larry Sousa (Gypsy, 2017) and Dori Bryan-Ployer (The Little Mermaid, 2018) through The Family Performing Arts Center at BSU. Marissa also teaches dance and theatre at Arts for Youth. Marissa attends classes and workshops through the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) where she continues to study the latest trends in dance and dance education as well as choreography composition. Marissa earned her BA in Dance Education with minors in theatre and musical theatre from Bridgewater State University in 2017. She graduated cum laude with dance honors recognized through the NDEO. She is thrilled to be joining the faculty at The MMAS Academy.

Derrick Lacasse is a Music Director/Voice Teacher in the Greater Boston Area. His students have been accepted into music programs at Syracuse University (Music Education); University of Southern Maine (Music Education); Maine All-State (Chorus, Jazz Choir); Maine District 2 (Band, Chorus); Ithaca University (Summer Music Intensive). Derrick recently received an honor in Education from The Chamber of Commerce: Young Professionals of Lewiston-Auburn 40 Under 40. He has served as the Music Director for many productions including; The Lion King Jr., James and The Giant Peach Jr., Suessical, Pippin, Legally Blonde, Little Mermaid Jr., The Addams Family, and Annie Jr. Originally from Maine, Derrick moved to Boston to pursue a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Lesley University. Derrick graduated from the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York in Potsdam, NY in 2014 with a degree in Music Education and a concentration in voice and music in special education. He has performed in many different venues including Avery Fisher Hall and The Duplex in NYC. During his undergraduate years, Derrick was the Music Director for the award winning a cappella group, The Potsdam Pointercounts. Derrick is also an avid performer, some of his favorite roles include: Gaston in Beauty and The Beast, The Dentist, Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip, and Patrick in Little Shop of Horrors, Cliff in Cabaret, Baker in Into the Woods, Corny Collins in Hairspray, Sir Galahad in Spamalot, Mereb in Aida, and Leaf Coneybear in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling. Derrick is thrilled to join the artistic team at MMAS and spearhead the music and voice program at the MMAS Academy.
