Writing Life Stories: 7 week course, Starts February 29
Wednesday Afternoons: 1 – 3 p.m.
Wednesday Evenings: 7 – 9 p.m.
Cost: $80/$70 for MMAS members
We all have stories to tell and this class will help you get those stories on paper, whether you plan to share them with family and friends or publish more widely.
The basic tools and techniques found in writing – establishing a unique voice, point of view, creating scenes, writing dialog, creating conflict and resolution – will be covered through lecture, discussion and short in-class writing exercises, along with weekly homework assignments and prompts. The best way to learn is to share your work with other writers; participants will share their stories and offer critiques of each other’s work.
Instructor Julie Cline has been teaching writing courses for several years and brings a varied background in business and public relations to teaching. She mines her own life as a wife and mother to write short stories and essays about raising children and simply surviving life in all its craziness. She believes everyone has a story to tell; it’s in the telling that writers are made.
Class size limit: 8 participants
