Rock Divas is a musical theatre class recommended for students who have a particular passion for contemporary, rock, and concept musical theatre. Rock Divas focuses on fringe musicals made popular in the late 20th and 21st century. To begin, students will work on material from Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis’ absurdist musical comedy Urinetown: a satire of the legal system, corporate mismanagement, and musical theatre itself. Using select songs and scenes from Urinetown, including solo and group work, Rock Divas will train students in contemporary musical theatre and the unique demands such material asks of its performers. Additional class material will be based on class size, dynamic, and ability.
