Musical Chairs (special Screening)

The Black Box Theater & Morini Gallery

MMAS is proud to host a special screening of the movie, Musical Chairs,

 on Sunday March 4 at 2 p.m.

This inspirational movie is about a young aspiring dancer who suffers an injury putting her in a wheelchair permanently and robbing her of her dream of being a competitive ballroom dancer. But the power of dance, music and love unite to achieve what seems unattainable, as she re-enters the world of competitive dance, even while remaining in her wheelchair.

It is a story about the strength and resiliency of the human spirit. It’s a story about our disabilities…not how they make us different, but how they bring us together.

Following the movie, there will be a talk back session with several dance teachers and therapists discussing how dance therapy is used to help treat neuromuscular diseases such as Parkinson’s as well as spinal cord injuries.

Tickets are $20 each, and all proceeds will go to establishing an adaptive dance therapy program here at MMAS.

If you are a dancer, if you are a therapist, if you believe in the healing power of dance, then come see this movie and learn more about our plans for a dance therapy program.

For more information and tickets, please call MMAS at 508-339-2822.
