MMAS Kids on Stage summer drama camp is a program for any child who enjoys the creative outlet that only theater can bring.  Whether your child has on-stage experience or just experience cracking up the family, this camp will be a great fit. Campers will be introduced to many aspects of theater, including theater games, improvisation, warm-ups, concentration exercises, voice and diction, terminology, audition skills, and more. Each session is truly tailored to its participants.  If we have a group of campers really into improv theater, our emphasis for the week will be on that with other skills mixed in.  Because each session is individualized to its participants, more than one session can be taken.  In fact, if a camper does take more than one session, they may very well be helping to teach warm-ups and games to new campers!  Each session will end with a showcase in the MMAS Blackbox Theater for parents, family and friends by the campers. The showcase will be comprised of whatever skills the campers focused on that week, monologues, improvisational comedy, an original play or all of the above!

WHO:

Awesome kids ages: 8-12  Note: Although this may seem like a large age range, the older campers mentor the younger ones, and the younger campers have someone to look up to.  Time is spent ensuring that an atmosphere of kindness, respect and teamwork is present at all times.

Instructor: Kelly Warriner, Mansfield Public School teacher for 10+ years, BA in Theater/Directing from Trinity College, Masters of Arts in Teaching from Simmons College and Masters in Creative Arts and Learning from Lesley University.  Directed, performed and taught theater for MMAS since 1998.

Innervisions - James Musto April 28 - May 27 at the Morini Gallery

Innervisions is an exhibit of the works of artist James Musto.

There will be a public reception on Saturday, April 28th from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Morini Gallery at MMAS 377 North Main Street.  Jim will have a casual talk about his works and life as an artist in the Black Box Theater at 7 PM that evening.

Art is a nonverbal language that makes thoughts visible. As an artist I see the vast world around me though a different set of eyes and it becomes my source of inspiration. - James Musto

This production will be directed by Neil Colvin, former Executive Director of Shakespeare & Company, and producer of Tony nominated Broadway productions.

This is not Shakespeare as you might remember it!  This irreverent and hilarious adaptation is for the whole family.  It runs 90 minutes with no intermission.

This will be MMAS’s first summer outdoor production.  It will take place in Mansfield’s Fulton Pond park.  All performances will be free (although donations will be welcome).  There may also be reserved seating available.  Check back for further details.

MMAS celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park with a giclee print on canvas created by local artist, Claire Norris. The painting was created by Norris from several photographs that she took of a Red Sox vs Yankees Game in 2009. One the mound is Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield and the batter is Hideki Matsui.

The giclee print is created from her original and is on display in the MMAS Morini Gallery located 377 North Main Street in downtown Mansfield. There are various sizes of the print on canvas to fit your budget. “It will make an awesome Father’s Day gift said, Ken Butler the Executive Director of MMAS.
