Directed and Choreographed by Vincent S. Ratsavong
Musical Direction by Derrick Lacasse
Suggested Ages: 11-17
Musical Theatre of the 21st century breaks the boundaries of traditional musical theatre. A non-stop amalgamation of singing, dancing, and story-telling, today’s musical theatre demands of its performers like never before. In Crossing the Chorus Line participants will receive practical and performative training in the dynamic world of today’s musical theatre, providing participants an energetic, senior level class that focuses on vocal and acting technique, as well as movement styling for contemporary musical theatre. Crossing the Chorus Line will concentrate on material from Tuck Everlasting, Hamilton, Kinky Boots, and Waitress. Participants will rehearse ensemble numbers as well as solo, duet and small group vocal selections. CCL is recommended for students wishing to accelerate their training using edited excerpts from contemporary musicals as well as jazz and modern dance techniques used in the original shows. To allow for optimal rehearsal time, Contemporary Musical Theatre Performance will close enrollment at the end of September. (Material subject to change based on class experience, size, and ability.)
